On August 6th, members of the Etobicoke-Lakeshore NDP nominated Sasha Kane to be our federal nominee. Sasha is a lifelong resident of Etobicoke-Lakeshore, a proud member of and advocate for the 2SLGBTQ+ community, and a committed progressive.

During her acceptance speech, Sasha highlighted reconciliation with Indigenous nations, the need for solutions to the affordable housing crisis, and urgent action on climate change as top priorities for her. As our MP, she will work to deliver on these and other priorities for Etobicoke-Lakeshore. Hi there! I love what you stand for and am looking forward to voting for you in our upcoming election. I am a bit worried however as when I type in elections.ca and put in my postal code, it tells me im in the Etobicoke- Lakeshore district and that my only option to vote is Conservative. Will this be updated soon so I can vote NDP?

Kelsey, it looks like it’s been updated. I just searched my postal code to check and when I clicked “Who are my candidates in my electoral district?“ it shows a table with 5 candidates, including NDP. Hope that helps :)

I registered to vote by mail. If you are doing this you write the name of the candidate or even just the party if you don't know the name. Just follow the instructions provided. If you are voting in person you can write in the candidate's name.

Check with elections.ca under "special ballot". It says "If you write only the name of a political party, your vote won't be counted."

Thank you to Brian B for the correction that mail in ballots MUST have the name of the candidate. Naming the party will NOT be counted

Dear Sasha,
My name is Danielle and I have been living in Etobicoke-Lakeshore my whole life. I am part of Faces of Advocacy, a non-partisan group of over 12,000 members. We are directly responsible for the advocacy which led to the immediate, extended family, and compassionate exemptions from border restrictions implemented in 2020.
As a voter, I would like you to clarify your position on two important topics:
a) If elected, will you commit to ensure cross border family reunification?
b) Will you commit to establishing an Office of Government Accountability if elected?
Your answers will certainly enlighten my decision on September 20th.
Thank you for your consideration,
Danielle Ball

Hi there Danielle,

I do not know too much about this subject, but if you would like to email me about it I'd be happy to chat with you.

Hi Sasha: I'm very, very concerned about the climate emergency. Wondering if you'd be willing to sign the Fossil Fuel Non Proliferation Treaty pledge. More info. here:

If so, please let me know and I'll drop by.

Hi Sasha,

Congrats on the nomination! I have a question about your stance on an environmental issue.

I consider myself a progressive and would almost always vote NDP if it weren't for the party's uncertainty of nuclear power. I am environmental professional, and am aware of all the issues that arise from nuclear power. However, with Ontario being over 50% nuclear-electricity dependent, I have not heard a clear policy stance of what the Ontario NDP would do if we had more representation at the federal level.

Germany is a perfect case study of what happens when you do not have a coherent plan on how to replace nuclear plants - they've now opened coal plants to keep up with the demand since their renewables sector could not (and they have a stronger renewables sector than Ontario). I understand that energy is a provincial jurisdiction, but federal capital is paramount to the maintenance of our nuclear sites.

My question to you is - where do you stand on nuclear power in Canada? Would you vote to limit (or worse, completely remove) funding for the sector? This is really the only issue that leads me to often vote Liberal, as much as I want to vote NDP. I'd love to hear where you stand.

Thank you!

I'm late to the party (no pun intended). I put a sign of yours in front of the home I live in. I live in a sea of blue, red and orange, lol. I just want to say that I am proud to add some orange into the mix.
